

Neva Ruth Vanderhoof, age 84, wife of former Governor John D. Vanderhoof for over 35 years, passed away on September 27, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Ruth was born in 1928 in Smith Center, Kansas where she grew up. She graduated from K State where she got her degree in Medical Technology; she later got her master’s degree in teaching and taught elementary school in Glenwood Springs and later Fruita, Colorado. Ruth is survived by her husband and four children, Cynthia Epple, Nancy Guccini, Kate LaPlante, and Thomas Craig, her step children Bruce and Linda Vanderhoof, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John and Ruth enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the world and many hunting and fishing expeditions.
