August 2, 1958 – January 29, 2012
Paula Lancaster passed away suddenly at home on January 29, 2012.
She was born to Dave and Marilyn Lancaster on August 2, 1958 in Denver, Colorado. Paula graduated from Central Catholic High School in Denver, Colorado. After graduating, she attended Larimer College for a short time and then found her way into the working world. She spent nine years at Gart Brothers Sports working out of their flagship store in downtown Denver. Following her family, she moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 2000. While in Grand Junction, Paula found a job and a home with her co-workers at JC Penney’s, where she worked as a dedicated employee for the past eight years.
Paula was devoted to her family and faith. She had a heart of gold, and she showed it in her acts and words of kindness. Growing up in Lakewood, Colorado with three brothers, she remained active with the family’s love of the outdoors. Camping, hiking, fishing and hunting were all a part of her life. Her dedication to her faith was evident through her actions and regular attendance at Mass. Paula showed great strength throughout her life, and she dearly loved her family. A kind word, a phone call, a card or gift were things that all of us received from her and always looked forward to. In her loving ways she made the decision to become an organ donor, and in that gift she will help many others.
Her mother, Marilyn Lancaster who passed away on August 25, 2011, precedes her in death. Paula is survived by her father, Dave Lancaster, brothers, Mark Lancaster, Doug Lancaster (wife Debbie) and Dan Lancaster (wife Beth) as well as five nieces and four nephews that she loved very much. In addition, many uncles, aunts, great nephews and cousins survive her. Paula was an important part of a loving family; she will be missed by all. The life she led and the beliefs she held lead us all to the realization that she will be with her mother and the Lord in a peaceful world.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00am, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, located at 790 26 ½ Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506. Immediately following will be a memorial celebration in the parish hall.
Memorial contributions may be made in Paula’s memory to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
Arrangements under the direction of Martin Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO.
