

Yvonne Piquette peacefully passed from this world into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on July 18, 2021 in Grand Junction, Colo.
Yvonne was born in Canon City, Colorado on May 17, 1941 to Phyllis and Robert Bouchard. She spent a good part of her childhood living and working at the Montgomery ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado. She loved horses and spoke of them often during her final days.
Yvonne was actively involved in and supported the Gunnison Arts Center for years while living in Gunnison, Colo. She graduated from WSC at the age of 50 and continued her education at Mesa State earning her Masters in public health. She also worked for the City of Fruita, wrote grants, and brainstormed, organized, and started the first annual Mike the Headless Chicken Festival in Fruita. It is still going strong today with thousands of visitors attending each year. Yvonne especially enjoyed working at the Museum of Western Colorado as events coordinator.
Rarely a day would go by when she wasn’t out taking a brisk walk. She logged hundreds of miles every year.
Yvonne is survived by brothers Jerry, Tom, and Mike Bouchard and sister Jeanne Peters, as well as daughters Holly Conwell, Leah Lee, and son Dan Piquette. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, ex-husband Jerry Piquette, and half- brother Andy Bouchard. She was preceded in death by brother Pat Bouchard and grandson Jedd Conwell.
