Bob was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harold and Myla Rapp. He graduated from East High School in Salt Lake and attended the University of Utah. After college, Bob entered the workforce as a parts supplier for heavy equipment, mostly in the mining industry. Outside of work hours, Bob moonlighted as a photographer for the Utah Jazz (Stars). He met his wife, Mim, while living and working in Salt Lake City. Together they raised their two children while exploring and adventuring in the canyonlands of southern Utah.
His professional knowledge base and relationships drew him out of parts supplies and into the mining industry itself. While working outside of Price, Utah, Bob quickly became an expert in underground mining.
His experience then brought him to Colorado where he and his wife raised their family while living in Steamboat Springs. Bob was instrumental in the programming of underground conveyor belts at mines in Utah and Colorado.
Later, his talents took them to Australia where he and his wife lived in New South Wales for 12 years. While there, he developed some of the most complex conveyor systems in the southern hemisphere.
When he retired, he and Mim returned to Colorado to be near their family and closer to the landscape he loved so much. He lived his remaining years enjoying family and friends in a backdrop that continued to inspire his love of photography.
He is survived by his wife, Mim; their children, Chris Rapp, Chuck (Katie) Rapp; siblings, Barbara (Rowland) Goff, John (Gail) Rapp, Dave (Chilli) Rapp, Maurine (Ed) Zarek; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
