Roy Foraker, a farmer, baker and craftsman, was born February 26, 1933, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Lawson and Elizabeth Renner Foraker. They moved to Grand Junction in 1937, with their six children, to their farm at 643 31 Road which remained the family home for 76 years. Roy and Marilyn, his wife of 56 years, had recently moved back to a portion of the old family farm. Roy went to be with the Lord from there.
Roy loved the outdoors. Fishing, hunting and gardening gave him great joy.
Graduating from Central High School in 1951, Roy lettered in four sports. He served in the Army as a cook in Korea. Roy worked at Holsum Bakery for 24 years, juggling farming with baking. After retirement he devoted full time to farming.
Roy was a loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Manley, Ruth Sutton, and Peggy Odneal; and brothers, Frank and Howard Foraker.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Greg (Lois) Foraker, and daughter, Karen (Reford) Theobold; four wonderful grandchildren, Ryan (Alisha) Foraker, Janessa (Sergio) Salgado, Allison and Kalinda Theobold; and sisters, Betty Faul, Hazel Littrell and Collene Milsap.
A graveside service will be Friday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Phil Neeley officiating.
