Sherman Eugene Matney

Sherman was born March 26, 1931, in a home outside Seymour, Missouri to the late Jesse Franklin and Minnie King Matney. Sherman graduated from high school and became a pastor for the Assembly of God Church. He later became a carpenter and ended his career running his own property management company. Sherman enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing the guitar and singing. He remembered words to gospel songs and scriptures his entire life.

Sherman was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Whittington, his son, Fred Matney; his parents, Jesse and Minnie Matney; and his siblings Frederick Glenn Matney, Willard Matney, Glessie Matney, Hazel Odessa Lyons, Orpha Catherine Proudfit, Frances Ruth Peterson, Leonard Garfield Matney and Patsy Alzoro Chedester.

Sherman is survived by his sons Dan (Bilinda) Matney of Minturn, CO, Frank (Jackie) Matney of Grand Junction, CO, and daughter Deborah (Gary) Myers of Amarillo, Texas; son-in-law Mike Whittington; daughter-in-law Susan (Storey) Matney, 14 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
