

Susan (Susi) Sanmann, age 83, passed away on April 1, 2026, in Grand Junction, CO. Known for her upbeat personality, compassion, and sharp sense of humor, Susi was a beloved friend, sister, and aunt who left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Life and Career
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 14, 1943, Susi dedicated her life to the service of others. After earning her nursing degree from Creighton Memorial Hospital, she spent approximately 40 years in Denver as a private scrub nurse and first assistant for Dr. David Young. Later in her career, she moved to Grand Junction, where she served as a perioperative educator at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Her commitment to medicine extended globally through medical missions to Kazakhstan and Cambodia, where she assisted surgeons in performing heart surgeries. Locally, she served as the Chairperson of the Patient/Family Advisory Council at St. Mary’s Hospital and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau academic sorority.
Hobbies and Community
Beyond her professional life, Susi was a talented artist and dedicated volunteer. She found great joy in art quilting and was a member of an exceptional quilting group that provided her with much happiness. She also continued her lifelong connection to healthcare by volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Survivors
Susi is survived by:
· Siblings: Bonnie, Pam, Mary, and Patty.
· Best Friends: Christy Davidson and Scott Watson for over 50 years.
· Her extended family and many dear friends in her art quilting community.
