Suwannee Smith

Suwannee Smith, age 92 years, of Palisade Colorado gained her Heavenly Wings at Hope West Care Center in Grand Junction on September 20, 2024. She was born in Bangkok, Thailand. She attended school in Bangkok, Thailand and graduated from Thammasat University in Bangkok with a degree in accounting. She received her Master’s degree from University of Northern Colorado. She worked for General Motors and Monsanto in Thailand.

Suwannee was well known for her sense of humor, strong will, love of cooking and cooking shows, reading, knitting, and gardening. She especially relished good food, travel, and making sure her peoples’ needs were met. She took genuine interest in everyone she encountered, caring for those she loved with deep loyalty. Suwannee faithfully participated in the body of Christ at Palisade Christian Church for many years.

Suwannee was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. She embodied Christ’s heart of laying one’s life down for another in countless ways, particularly in her care of Anchalee.

Suwannee is survived by daughters Paula and Anchalee Smith, grandchildren Dasha Jensen, Garth Jensen, Ronald Smith, Christine Smith, and Beatrix Sullivan; 2 sets of twin great grandchildren Audrey and Kenyon Hesker, Carrick and Lucas Jensen.

She is also survived by many relatives from Thailand including Great nephews Chatchawan Kusmitti (son Pannawich Kusmitti), Kerkkong Kusmitti (wife Yuko Yoneshima, son Ryo Kusmitti),Great niece Sunanta Senaho (husband Patchara Senaho and children Tienrawit, Kantorn, and Kantee Senaho), Chantira Kusmithi, great nephew Tanadej Koothammarak (wife Chanicha daughter Kojchamon ),niece Kannikar Kusmithi, great niece Mullika Koosmithi (husband Kittiphan Intanon), great nephew Manit Kusmithi (wifeThananart Penya), and many others.

Suwannee was preceded in death by her husband John B Smith, son John W. Smith and two sisters.

Service will be held at Calvary Bible Church on October 19, 2024 at 1030am.
