She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Roy D. of Grand Junction; four daughters, Karen L. Scoggin of Boulder, Laurel B. Lambe of Scottsdale, Arizona, Holly M. Munro of Tucson, Arizona, and Julie A. Pruett of Palisade; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Victoria Louise Cooke Kareus passed from this earthly life into her heavenly home on August 1, 2016, at Community Hospital, in Grand Junction, CO, of natural causes.

Vicki was born on February 5, 1924, in Detroit, MI, to Cecile and Louise (Kuhnle) Cooke, the second of five children. She met the love of her life, Lawrence D. Kareus, in Detroit, who at the time was serving in the US Navy during WWII. They married on May 27, 1944. After the war he became a pharmacist in Michigan, but with support of Vicki, Larry moved his family of three children across the US to California and attended medical school. Upon completion of medical school the family moved to Palisade, CO where Vicki helped Larry set up a thriving and compassionate medical practice.

Victoria was a very special wife, sister, mother, grandmother (Oma) and great-grandmother (Omama). She loved living her life as mom and Oma, and one of her greatest joys was having her family around to cook wonderful meals and desserts. Her home was always open to children and grandchildren. They all loved being in her midst. Vicki gardened and grew great vegetables and roses. She was a creative individual and loved to sew, do crafts, decorate cakes and craft jewelry. In recent years she has volunteered as a school aid at Taylor Elementary and as a library assistant at Palisade Library and Redlands Community Church.

Vicki was preceded in death by her father, mother and her four siblings, as well as Lawrence, her husband, and son, Mark Alan Kareus. She is survived by five children, Karen (Charles) Scoggin of Boulder; Laurel (Clarke) Lambe of Scottsdale, AZ; Holly (Scott) Munro of Tucson, AZ; Julie (Brent) Pruett of Palisade, CO, and Roy (Shelle) Kareus of Grand Junction. This wonderful grandma (Oma) had fifteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held in Vicki's honor on Friday, August 5, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Chapel, 2515 Patterson Road.
