

William “Bill” Joseph Turner, 64, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO. He leaves his sister, Linda Ging (brother-in-law John Ging) of Crescent City, CA and; his brother, Virgil Turner (sister-in-law Sheila Turner) of Montrose, CO; a niece, Jennifer Turner of Portland, OR, a nephew, Joel Turner of Washington, DC, a nephew, Jeffrey Turner of Grand Junction, CO, and many close friends. Born in Kansas City, MO and raised in Raytown, MO, the son of Gordon and Osie Turner.
Bill, who was born with Down Syndrome, lived a full and extraordinary life. A constant in his life was his love of music, especially early rock and roll. He was proud to be able to work throughout his life, both in workshops for the developmentally disabled as well as community jobs. While in Kansas City, Bill worked for Southeast Enterprises as well as in a restaurant. After moving to Montrose, CO to be near his brother, Bill worked for Community Options, Inc. in a number of roles.
Throughout his life, Bill positively impacted all he came in contact with. A family ceremony and interment will be held later this summer at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Community Options, Inc. (http://communityoptionsinc.org/) would be most appreciated.
