March 24, 1953 - April 1, 2014
Bill was born on March 24, 1953, in Seattle, Washington to Harold Schoonmaker and Carol Perkins. He died on April 1, 2014, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center after a seven year courageous battle with cancer.
Bill spent his childhood in Seattle, Washington, Anchorage, Alaska and Grand Junction, Colorado. He graduated from Grand Junction High School and received an Associates in Science Degree from Mesa Junior College.
He worked for City Market in Grand Junction for 40 years. Bill had been a member of the Barbershop Quartet and the choir at First United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, painting, photography, and traveling to various parts of the world.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Unruh Smith in January, 2014. He is also preceded in death by his brother, John Schoonmaker, and step-fathers, Frank Unruh and Harold Smith.
He is survived by his step-sisters, Gwen (Gus) Sublette of Grand Junction, CO; Linda (Jerry) Pederson of Greenwood Village, Colorado, and Allene Franklin of Alaska; step-brother, Dave Unruh of Alaska, and numerous step-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 1:00 p.m.
