

Agnes Maurene Houston Yentzen, age 96, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 10, 2020 at Medical City Arlington. She was born on February 24, 1924, in Port Arthur, Texas, as the older of two children to Joseph Henry Houston and Josephine Shields.
As a child, Maurene lived in various cities in Texas, including Nederland and Jasper, and graduating from Jasper High School. She met the love of her life, George Joseph Yentzen, in first grade, and they were happily married for 71 years. They had one son, Edward Joseph Yentzen. She has been a resident of Grand Prairie since 1949, most recently living at The Atria of Grand Prairie. Maurene was primarily a homemaker, but she did clerical work in Dallas and Grand Prairie at various times in her life. She loved spending her afternoons watching old movies.
Maurene was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. In her later years, she participated in the Silver Leaves senior group at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
A small, feisty lady, Maurene had a mind of her own. She had an incredible memory well into her nineties, rarely forgetting anything people would tell her and always remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other special events with remarkable accuracy. She had the sweetest nature and was truly loved by her family and friends. She will be missed.
Maurene was predeceased by her husband, George Joseph Yentzen, in 2015 and her son, Edward Joseph Yentzen, in 2008. She was also predeceased by her brother, Jack Houston, of Frisco, Texas.
She is survived by her primary caregiver, her great niece, Heather Kennedy, as well as daughter-in-law, Cindy Yentzen. Also surviving her are nieces and nephews, Linda Kennedy, Larry White (Sharon), Lew White (Patti), Jane Crippen (Steve), and Mike Yentzen (Bonnie) as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry White, Lew White, James Spinks, Jameson Spinks, Derek Kennedy, Connor Kennedy, Andrew Cooper, Mike Yentzen and Doug Yentzen.
Burial will be with her husband George at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
