Barbara Lucille (Roe) Hyde was born March 28, 1939 in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. She was the oldest of 5 children born to Byron Brooks Roe and Clara Imogene (Snyder) Roe. Her siblings include: Kenneth Brooks Roe, Carolyn Jean (Roe) Boone, John Elmer Roe and Charlotte Ann (Roe) Klinkerman.
The family lived in Seymour until moving to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas for her father’s work. She attended elementary school in Seymour and later graduated from Sunset High School after the family moved to Dallas. Barbara was a straight A student throughout her school years. She graduated in 1957 and shortly after married her high school sweetheart, David Jerrel Hyde, on June 21, 1957. They were married for 67 glorious years and left a loving legacy for their children and grandchildren.
Barbara and David were blessed with three children to include a son Jerrel Glen Hyde who they lost at the age of 19 years, daughter Vicki Lynn (Hyde) Englehardt and son named David Brooks Hyde.
They have 6 grandchildren: David Glen Hyde, Briana Brook (Hyde) Smith, Taylor Bren Hyde, Sarah Kristen (Englehardt) Savage, Amanda Michelle Englehardt and Hillary Ann (Englehardt) Weatherford.
They were blessed with 10 great grandchildren: David Clay Hyde, Courtney Janakae Hyde, Colton Wyatt Hyde, Brynlee Tayte Smith, Brooklyn Lucille Smith, Heidi Lynn Weatherford, Hayes Wilson Weatherford, Hallie Grace Weatherford, Alaina Selene Hyde and Aiden Dean Hyde.
They were also blessed with son-in-law Steve Wilson Englehardt and daughter-in-law Sharon Marie (Taylor) Hyde; three grand son-in-laws to include Everett Bradley Smith, Hal Charles Weatherford and Guy Conley Savage; and two grand daughter-in-laws to include Heather Jane (Flinchum) Hyde and Andrea Marie (Garcia) Hyde.d her family.
Barbara went into the banking business after her high school graduation and rising to the position of Senior Vice President at the Republic Bank in Grand Prairie, Texas. She earned her Masters Degree in Banking from Southern Methodist University.
While at Republic Bank, she was in several civic organizations and was President of the Women’s Chamber in Grand Prairie.
Barbara learned how to cook, sew and crochet from her Grandmother Cora Lucille (Ritchie) Roe at a young age. After retiring from banking, she became interested in quilting and made over 100 which she gave many to family and friends. She also spent endless hours with other hobbies such as crocheting, sewing aprons, making hundreds of hotpads and coloring.
She also had a love of gardening and spent many hours in her yard alongside her husband, David, keeping him very busy with her projects.
Barbara was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie since joining in 1975.
