David L. Jackson

His parents were Sarah Jackson Davis and John Clemmons Davis of Freehold, New Jersey. He finished high school in 1951 at Court Street High School. After high school he worked at Marlboro State Hospital. Then later he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas in 1953. He lived in several states in the United States due to his military status. He served two tours in Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1971 at Colorado Springs ENT Air Force Base in Colorado. David attended Paul Quinn College and Dallas Baptist University both in Dallas, Texas, attaining his Bachelor of Science in Education. He went on to get his Master of Education degree from Prairie View A&M University, in Prairie View, Texas. Mr. Jackson taught math in Grand Prairie I.S.D. and Dallas I.S.D. He went on to further educational opportunities for others by becoming a GED instructor in Grand Prairie, Texas and Dallas, Texas.

A strong Christian, David united with Bethel A.M.E church in Freehold, New Jersey. He later attended Evening Chapel A.M.E. Church, Grand Prairie, Phillips Memorial A.M.E. Church, Fort Worth, Armstrong A.M.E Church Arlington, and Holy Tabernacle of Christ, Grand Prairie where he served in many roles as steward, usher, choir member and treasurer.

David met wife Clarine Harris in 1953 in Waco, Texas. They joined in holy matrimony in 1954. They had 3 children; Irene, David Larry, and Patricia. He was preceded in death by his brother Francis “Frank” Jackson, mother Sarah E. Davis, father John C. Davis, grandson Derick Lamar Jackson, and great-great grandchild Andrea Tucker.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 64 years Clarine Harris Jackson, two daughters Irene Jackson Womack (Raymond Womack); Patricia Ann Jackson Criner-Miller; and one son David Larry Jackson (Wanda Jackson) all in Grand Prairie, Texas. He has two sisters Ethel “Nooney” Davis Lee, and Joann Davis Parks in Freehold, New Jersey. He has two sisters-in-law, Inez Easley, and Alice Whitlow, and 3 brothers in-law, Archie Lee Harris, George Harris, and Eddie Harris. He had 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, from 7:00pm-8:30pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place on Friday, October 5, at 12:30pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral home in the chapel, followed by a committal service at the DFW National Cemetery.
