Born on August 28, 1952, in Peoria, Illinois, David graduated from Washington Community High School in May of 1970. He went on to serve his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army, retiring after 23 years of service in 1994.
David was a devoted husband throughout his life. He married Donna McIntyre on December 3, 1973, and they shared many cherished years together until her passing on September 3, 1997. He later married Nilda Montalvo in 1998, who sadly passed away in 1999. In August of 2002, he found love again and married Darlene Johnson, with whom he shared 23 years of companionship and devotion.
A passionate fan of baseball, David especially loved cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He also had a love for running and staying active. One of his greatest joys was music. He was an avid Elvis Presley fan and often delighted others with his singing voice, which many said bore a remarkable resemblance to the King himself.
David will be remembered for his loyalty, his humor, and the warmth he brought to those around him. His legacy of love, service, and song lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife Darlene Johnson; son Jeffrey and wife Becky Johnson; grandchildren Emily Jordan, Whitney Johnson, Stephany O’Neill, Ruben O’Neill, and Kate O’Neill; siblings Teri Johnson and Michael Johnson; step children Jason, Darla, Angela, and Christi as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
