

Donald Gene Cox passed away on February 9, 2014 in Dallas, TX. He was born July 14, 1945 to Elmer Cox and Oneda Garner in Grand Prairie, TX. He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Diseker of McKinney, Terri Schmidt of Plano, and Sabrina Hodges of Van Zandt; three brothers; Kenneth Cox and Fred Cox of Arlington, and Danny Cox of OK.; one sister, Barbara McCormick of Grand Prairie, half brother, Bobby Cox of Arizona, nine grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, mother and one sister, Linda. Don was a very proud Marine who served two tours in the Vietnam war in 1969. He was assigned to the DEA platoon and was awarded sharp shooter honors. In his civilian life he had a love of music. An excellent guitar player and vocalist who enjoyed playing on stage and at home for family and friends. He was also a craftsman and proprietor of furniture as well as a residential contractor. He was known as a genuine and caring man who never met a stranger. His sense of humor knew no limits and was enjoyed by all who knew him. If you were to call him, no matter what the situation, and ask how he was doing, his reply would often be "I'm GREAT"! Just sitting outside enjoying life. Don lived his life here on earth to the fullest and is now loving life in heaven with his mother, father and sister.
