Donna Mae Easterling

Donna grew up in Minnesota and moved to Texas in 1949. She graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 3 years and completed college at the University of Texas in 3 years. She was one of the first women to attended Law School at SMU and graduated in only 3 years. After she graduated she sat for Boards in Texas before moving to New York to work for the IRS.

She was married August 28, 1965 and the year her daughter was born she moved back to Texas and worked for a Title Company. In the early 70’s Donna opened her own private practice. She retired in September of 2014. Donna was a very outgoing woman who enjoyed traveling and experiencing new cultures. She visited China, Tibet, Paris, Venice and many other places. As much as she loved to travel her home was her castle and she always preferred the comfort of her own bed. She also loved her garden, and took care to make sure it was always pristine.

Donna is a partial owner of the Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie which she inherited it from her family, who were the original owners. She participated in competitive country western ballroom dancing and triathlons. Donna was a lifelong dancer; she back to SMU in the late 80’s to take dance classes just for fun. She was a thinker who analyzed everything but never met a stranger.

Donna had a passion for animals; her father said that she could bring home a stray every time she went on a walk. As a child she had dogs, rabbits, and ducks, as an adult she always had house pets but also would feed the birds and squirrels in her yard. She even taught the squirrels to come take food from her hand. Donna she adored all her family and treasured her grandson Brett.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Fisher; father, Allan Meagher; brother, Jerry Meagher.

She is survived by her daughter Lorna Rankin and her husband, Randy; grandson Brett Belt; sisters: Bonnie Isom and her husband, Billy, Pat Watson-Capps and her husband, Jerry, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Bean Massey Burge from 6-8pm.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 29, 2016 at Bean Massey Burge at 10am with burial to follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
