Douglas Herman Key was born October 12, 1946, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to George Wayne Key and Ruby Irene Grubbs Key. He was raised in Grand Prairie and lived there until he moved to live with his daughter in Kemp, Texas. Douglas married Sadie Carol Pressnell on June 18, 1965, and continued to live in Grand Prairie, where they raised three children, Douglas Paul, Brian Scott, and Tammy Renee. Douglas and Sadie were married for forty years until Sadie’s death in 2005.
Douglas loved to fish, hunt, bowl, ride motorcycles, and watch his grandchildren play sports. He started his own plumbing business in 1982 and operated it until his retirement at the young age of 65. He built a small business into a thriving business that supported several families. He was known in Grand Prairie as an honest plumber, always putting others before himself. He was a very hard worker always providing for his family. He served on several boards within the City of Grand Prairie.
Douglas better known as “Papa” to his grand children, loved to spend time and play practical jokes with his grandchildren. I am sure they can tell some funny stories.
Douglas is preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Carol Key; three brothers and four sisters.
Douglas is survived by his son, Douglas Paul Key of Forney, Texas; son, Brian Scott Key of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter Tammy Renee Key Deviney of Kemp, Texas; sister, Mary Beckham of Grand Prairie, Texas; sister, Ruby Skinner of Wills Point, Texas; brother, Billy Wayne Key of Wills Point, Texas; grandchildren, Jonathan Key, Blaine Key, Paul Key, Bradley Key, Madison Key, Jacob Deviney , Cameron Key, Rylee Coffey, Colton Deviney; great grandchildren, Liam Richenberger-Key, Stetson Key.
