

Elizabeth Artie Renfro contracted West Nile Virus in July 2013, she survived for a year before it claimed her life on July 31, 2014. She was born December 4, 1930 in Kennedy, TX to Thomas and Katie Warlick.Elizabeth grew up all over the place. Her parents were farmers and moved from farm to farm for work. She left school in the 4th grade to start working to help support her younger siblings. In the summer of 1947 she became friends with Billie Renfro, the sister of Charles Renfro who introduced them. On December 20, 1947 they were married in Ft. Worth, TX and celebrated their 66th anniversary last year.
Elizabeth was a beautiful woman with a wonderful personality and a love of children. She not only raised her children but helped care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known by the neighborhood and her children’s friends as “Granny”.Since she left school so early she never learned to read or write but that didn’t stop her helping her children with their school work. She was very giving, and never asked for anything in return. Elizabeth was more like a best friend who gave unconditional love and forgiveness. She was the best wife and mother, who accepted everyone as they are. And you always knew if she liked you because she would give you a nickname.Elizabeth was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, before moving to First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie 15 years ago to be with her children. She loved jewelry, cloths, sweet tea and sweets. One of her favorite snacks was a cold can of pork n’ bean’s with potato chips. She was a New York Yankee and Derek Jeter fan. Famous for telling stories she never let you leave without hearing the whole thing. She enjoyed playing solitar on the computer and working on projects around the house. She was always re-finishing a piece of furniture or re-painting a room.She is survived by her husband Charles Renfro; children Doris Rawson and husband Ed, Charlene Waller and husband Johnny, Dianna Darbon and husband Josh, Marvin Renfro and wife Theresa; grandchildren Charolette Gowan, Eward Rawson, Christina Renfro, Shane Renfro, Billy Wheatley, Becki Waller, Ryan Renfro, Haley Renfro; great-grandchildren Nathan, Edward, Roger, Christpher, Kayla, Dalton, Angelica, Mason, Samantha, Charlsey, Sydney, Amari, Kiah, Jaxson; great-great-grandchildren Kaysen, Kolbie; brothers Charles Henry and Gilda Warlick.
