

Flo O. Hammond, 88, passed away October 8, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. Flo was born June 15, 1926 to Earl Young Johnson and Olga Copeland in Elbert, Texas. Mrs. Hammond graduated from Throckmorton High School. As a child she would love to spend time in the woods with her daddy. Flo was never afraid of getting alittle dirt on her. On February 26, 1943, she married Kenneth Hammond. She loved yard work, flowers, and believed that "Gardening tills the Soul". She also won yard of the year for her hard work. Flo was very family oriented, she liked sewing her children's clothes, crocheting, embroidery and even made her own curtains. She loved life, was happy and easy going, until you made her mad, then she was a fiery redhead! She loved writing letters, reading about Tom Landry and Billy Graham, and cooking without recipes, whether for one person or fifty. Flo loved going to church and always dressed her best.
She is survived by; son, Mark Hammond and wife, Trish; daughter, Kenna Kay Gilbert and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Rodney Akin, Wesley and Leslie VanBevers, Kevin Holmes, and Stephanie Smith; great grandchildren, Kaden Smith and Kevin Holmes, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews and sisters in law.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sister, Bonnie Ash; daughters, Becky VanBevers and Betty Holmes and granddaughter, Lisa Gilbert Cash.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Funeraria Del Angel Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, Texas from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Funeral Service will be at the funeral home in the Chapel at 10:00 am, Friday, October 10, 2014. Burial at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas will follow the service.
