Gilberto L. Mata, 77, passed away September 2, 2015. Gilberto spent his youth working as an upholsterer in his father's shop in Mexico. He was recruited by an American seeking to bring this highly specialized trade to the United States. Gilberto reluctantly retired after a lifetime of work as an upholsterer and owner of Gilton Upholstery. He loved his family and valued his many friends. He enjoyed playing with his grandkids, and being involved with the Grand Prairie community.
He was born February 12, 1938 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Gilberto was the best husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survived by: wife of 52 years, Hortensia G. Mata; son, Gilbert J. Mata and wife Terrie; daughter, Conchita Andrijeski and husband Daniel;
