Greg was born on April 7, 1965, to Benjamin (Ben) Baxter and Christel Baxter in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1983 and went on to study Aviation Aircraft Mechanic/Maintenance, earning his AMP certification.
After receiving his AMP certification, Greg began his career in aircraft maintenance at Dalfort Aviation, where he worked for two years before joining Southwest Airlines. He spent 28 years as a dedicated aircraft mechanic at Southwest, earning the respect of his colleagues and forming many lifelong friendships.
In 2013, Greg met Dana Calcaterra at a dance competition, and they fell in love. They were married on October 18, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Greg had a deep passion for the outdoors and could often be found camping, hiking, boating, or tending to his garden. He also loved dancing, playing the guitar, and building model rockets. Above all, Greg was devoted to his faith in Jesus Christ, becoming a member of Crossroads Christian Church, and he cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Dana Baxter; his mother, Christel; his father, Ben, and wife, Helen; his brother, Michael Lawhorn, and wife, Mary; his aunts and uncles Hans Porzycki, Buzzy, Buttons, Breezy, Buddy McKinstry, and their families; his nephew and niece, Michael (Mikie) and Miranda; his great-nephew and nieces, Mykah, Tristen, Monroe, and Kane; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hans and Franziska Porzycki of Germany, and Samuel (Junior) and Vivian McKinstry of Florida.
