

James Kenneth Hall, 80, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home – Dalworth Chapel. Burial will follow with full military honors at DFW National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. James was born on February 22, 1932, to the late Clarence Eugene and Belva Henry (Stegall) Hall in Leaksville, North Carolina. He married Alice Lynn on November 4, 1972, in Amelia, Virginia. James enlisted with the United States Army in August 1948. He retired after 21 years of service as E6 – SSG on October 31, 1969. During his enlistment, James served two tours each in Korea and Vietnam; along with many other tours in the United States. He was a POW for 33 months in Korea. Honors received include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star With Valor, POW Medal, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, and Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. In 1983, James also retired from Shell Oil Company. Upon retirement, James spent 25 years volunteering at the Dallas Veterans Hospital.
James was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Hall and sister, June Cox. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 40 years, Alice Hall; three children: Deborah Harper and husband Murray, Kenneth Hall and wife Melinda, and Leigh Martin and husband Clint; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters: Sherron Davis and Faye Kirkman.
