James Lee "J.L." Melton, also known as "Paw Paw", 86, passed away December 9, 2014 at Huguley Memorial Medical Center Hospice House in Burleson, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Melton was born September 19,1928 in Waxahachie, Texas to Vester Lee Melton and Ada Mary Fleeman. Mr. Melton served honorably in the US Army, US Navy and the Merchant Marines. He married his wife, Mildred, on June 5, 1948. They were married 59 years until her passing in 2007. He retired from LTV on Jefferson Street in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1989.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Mildred Louise Carrell Melton. Survivors include sons; James Edward Melton and wife, Linda, Billy Wayne Melton and wife, Pam, daughters; Glenda Williams and husband, Darrel and Carole Ann Greenwood and husband, Randy. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one whom he called "Little Doodle", Madison Ashley Reed, who was the love of his life, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving Mr. Melton are his sisters, Wanda, Nita and Judy, and step-sisters, Mildred, Shirley and Rosemary.
