As an infant she was adopted by John and Francis Wesley and moved to Topeka, Kansas where she attended Topeka High School. Karleen met Howard McCallister through a family friend and the two were married September 13, 1966. She was member of First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie and enjoyed sewing, doing genealogy and playing slot machines. Karleen was very proud of her job. For 37 years she worked in civil services and was a MWR Deputy Director with the US Navy. Karleen could be quiet and shy at time but she was more known for her quirky, happy attitude. She was a straight forward, fun-to-be-around, patriotic woman who was all about her family. In her eyes children were good, but their children where Grand, and that’s why they are called grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother-in-law and was known around town as “Granny”. Karleen is preceded in death by her husband Howard McCallister; son Ray McCallister. She is survived by her children Mike Diehl and his wife Susan, Vickie May, Fred Diehl and his wife Debbie, Cindy Murphy and her husband Truckie, James McCallister and his wife Jessie, Don McCallister and his wife Judy, Maria McKnight and her husband Johnny; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
