Faye McDonald, 96, entered into rest on August 7, 2022. She was born on November 25, 1925 to Julius and Veda Simmons in Pottsville, Texas. Faye married Earl McPherson November 27, 1941 before he went into the US Navy to help win WWII. They enjoyed 45 years of wonderful marriage where they raised three sons before Earl succumbed to pneumonia. Family was very important to Faye. She was involved in the PTA at Houston Elementary where she was a lifetime member and served as president. When Ed was in fourth grade she entered the workforce. She was hired by JC Penney’s and started out as a sales clerk. Later she moved to the warehouse where their catalog sales were beginning to thrive. She quickly learned the new computerized system As each new hire came into work, she would individually teach them how to work the computers. Customer service was a great strength as she was responsible for working with customer complaints and scheduling deliveries. She took great joy in making an outstanding department run like clockwork.
In addition to running the catalogue department, she loved to cook and she always made sure that there was enough to go around since in addition to the family there were two boarders who worked at Ling Temco Vought in the 50s and two of Wayne’s college friends in the late sixties. At times she was cooking for 6 men/boys who were always ready to eat.
She was a faithful member of the church all her life. In Grand Prairie she worshipped at 4th and Church, Dalworth, Turnpike and finally CrossPoint. It was during her time at Turnpike that she connected with Ben McDonald during senior social events. They married in 1995 and had 5 wonderful years together before he passed away.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Veda Simmons, her husbands, Earl and Ben and oldest son Wayne. She was survived by Wayne’s wife, Pearl, son and wife, Don & Suzanne, son and wife, Ed & Karen; 5 grandchildren, Scott, Herschel and wife Mary, David and wife Lana, Kim and Michael and wife Charity; great grandchildren; Alexandra, Erica, Darcy, Nathan, Nora, Elliot, Scottie and Jacob. She was also survived by Ben’s two daughters Dorothy and Pat and her husband Jim.
Faye was cared for in her last years by some wonderful caregivers, especially Bancy Njambuya and the staff at Colip House.
