Born on January 6th, 1963, in Bad Axe, Michigan, Michael Scott was the youngest son of Loyd Lee Stevens and Donnella Jean Stevens (née George). His vibrant spirit, born in the year of the Tiger, brought light and joy to everyone who knew him. Michael Scott was a military family child, moving frequently due to his father's service in the military. He often spoke fondly of his junior high years in Iceland, a time he cherished. His family was also deeply involved with the Salvation Army throughout his childhood. Michael Scott’s family settled in Richardson, Texas, in 1978 and lived most of his life there, graduating from Richardson High School in 1981. He married the love of his life, Rebecca Rose Herman, on December 17th, 1988 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Richardson, Texas, with the Rev. Virgil Frederick Meyer officiating. He was a proud father to his four children.
Michael Scott was known for his generous heart and his endless optimism. A dreamer, he often encouraged others to be their authentic selves and was a father figure to many. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful teacher, and a friend to all. The light he brought into the world lives on through all who loved him. Michael Scott's open heart extended his concept of family far beyond blood, generously welcoming countless individuals into his home throughout his life. Among them were his cherished nephew Chris and niece Ashley, his best friend and brother in spirit Tony (with whom he reconnected after years apart), and foreign exchange students Yumi, Phan, and Han who called him Dad. A devoted son, Michael Scott was a dedicated caretaker for his parents.
Michael Scott was a true Game Master, sharing his passion for games with everyone. He had a deep love for music, always having the perfect song for any situation. With a green thumb, he enjoyed gardening, and he was an avid cook. He lived with purpose and dedicated himself to caring for the people around him. Michael Scott was also known for his goofy humor and eccentric charm, often being the life of the party and ensuring everyone around him was having a good time. His vibrant passion for gaming connected him to a global network of friends and brought him immense joy, a love he passed on to his children. He found later-career fulfillment working at the local Dollar General, where he was a beloved, kind, and helpful community presence.
