Pat was born July 26, 1939 in Eunice, New Mexico, to Wesley “Curley” Murphy and Charlice Jean King Murphy but would very proudly tell everyone that she was from West Texas and mainly Lubbock.
In the 1960’s Pat enlisted in the U.S. Army, at that time it was the US Women’s Army Corps, and she was always very proud of the 12 years she spent serving her country. During that time, she met and married James R. Barnes on December 18, 1971. Just before having their only child Pat was honorably discharged from the Army.
Pat was the Manager of Custodial Support at Dallas Baptist University before she became the Assistant Director for Housekeeping at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Once she left there Pat became a Realtor for Pat Watson and then Susy Saldivar where she was well loved by her colleagues.
She was an avid reader and even enjoyed writing herself. Pat also was a very talented artist in her own right with several beautiful paintings being done and gifted to family throughout the years. Other hobbies include traveling, listing to music and spending time with family, like her grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jamie and grandchildren, Patrick and Jeannie plus her 4 brothers and sisters: Johnny, Calvin, Linda and Janie.
Pat Barnes will be especially remembered for her quick wit and her fiery spirit that touched everyone she met.
Memorial Services will be held March 12, 2022, at 2:00 at Bean-Massy-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
