Ron “Coach” Murphy passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on Sunday March 13, 2016. Ron was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by the love of his life for over 52 years, Judy Murphy. Ron has two sons, Tommy and Matthew Murphy; two grandchildren, Bryce and Haley Murphy; two great grandchildren Bryson and Braylon; a soon to be grand daughter-in-law, Cassidy Moore; a beloved sister, Beverly Wells; and nephew and niece, David and Darla Wells. Ron was a Christian man, who found his faith early growing up in Waco, TX. He loved his country and proudly served from 1964-1968 in the United States Air Force. He worked two jobs while attending East Texas State University and graduated in 1972, with the help of his lovely wife. He became a school teacher and coach in 1972 and had truly found his calling. Ron developed friends throughout his life that he loved and thought of as family; Gary and Sandy Hartman, their children Heath Hartman and Wendy Woods; Mike and Sharon Quate, their children Brandon and Matthew Quate, Jim and Lynee Reese; childhood friends Billy Don Vinson, Tommy Fickey Carlos Motley; and many more. Through his many years of teaching and coaching, he developed kindred relationships with Buddy Berry, Calvin Harrison, Cole Good, and many more. He believed it to be an honor to be a part of so many lives and remembered in great respect his colleagues, students, and athletes. He remembered most by name, as well as most of their academic and athletic accomplishments during their time together, as he cherished these memories that he shared with so many. He enjoyed reading, studying history, fishing, playing golf, anything related to Baylor University, “eating seafood”, football, the Rangers, and of course, his Cowboys. He spent the last part of his life in Midlothian, TX with his family, whom he loved tremendously. He had a big heart and loved many throughout his lifetime. Although flowers or any memento of remembrance are greatly appreciated and welcome, the family offers the opportunity to make donations to the Kidney Foundation/ Camp Reynal that supports children in their fight against renal disease.
