Born in 1952 in Faleasao, Manu’a, American Samoa, Tulau was one of 12 children born to Segi Tiliai’a (D) and Solumua Tiliai’a (D). In addition to his biological siblings, Tulau was also embraced as an adopted son and brother by Faifeau Toeaina Malolo, Tiso Panapa (D), and Faletua Faifeau Pisisami Panapa (D), and was raised alongside their 10 children.
Tulau attended Faleasao Elementary School and graduated from Manu’a High School. He entered into service with the United States Marine Corps, serving four years of active duty. He was honorably discharged after faithfully serving his country.
At a fairly young age, Tulau was bestowed his Matai Chief title, Tulau, and he proudly carried the responsibilities that came with it. He faithfully served his family, church, and community. A devoted servant of God throughout his life’s travels and moves, Tulau was an active and dedicated leader in the church. He served as a Deacon, A’oa’o, and committed member of various EFKS congregations throughout Samoa, Hawai‘i, and the continental United States.
Tulau was first married to Joylene Tiliai’a (D), and together they were blessed with six children. He later married Sose Auelua Tiliai’a (D), and they were blessed with 10 children.
Tulau’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow service members. He leaves behind his loving children and extended family, who will carry forward his enduring legacy of service, faith, and unwavering dedication.
