Shawn Robert Gibson

Shawn was born Tuesday, July 3, 1962 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Robert Hugh Gibson and Anna Florene Shawn Gibson. He was always young at heart and enjoyed playing video games, watching movies and listening to rock music.

In addition to his parents, Shawn is preceded in death by his sister, Myrna Stewart and brother, Mike Huckaby.

Shawn was the beloved brother of Cheryl Curtin who was his caretaker for twenty-three years. Shawn is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Curtin of Clover, South Carolina; his nieces, Melissa Cochran (Sean) of San Francisco, California and Debbie Stewart of Carrollton, Texas; nephews, Ray Stewart of Overland Park, Kansas, Randy Stewart of McKinney, Texas, Brian Huckaby, Mark Huckaby and Kevin Huckaby, all of Texas. Shawn is also survived by a host of extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Shawn on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050.
