Silvester M. DeLeon

Silvester M. DeLeon went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 26, 2015. He was born November 10, 1938 in Lubbock, TX. Silvester married Maria Cantu on December 1, 1957. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He worked for LTV/Vought (Jefferson Plant) and retired after 33 years in 2000, UAW Local 848. Many in Grand Prairie will remember Mr. DeLeon, the Ice Cream Man. Silvester was a member of St. Michael the Archangel and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Preceded in death by parents, Jose DeLeon and Neria Martinez DeLeon; sisters, Ester Ortiz and Abelina Meranda.

Survived by: wife, Maria Cantu DeLeon; children, Sy DeLeon, Jr. and wife Kay of Mesa, AZ, sons, Eric and Nicholas; Sylvia Tort and her husband Mario of Hempstead, TX, daughters, Jessica Davis and Vanessa Tort, son, Mario Tort Jr., grandson, JJ Davis; Sarah DeLeon of Euless, TX, Jo Ann Bazaldua and husband Daniel of Arlington, TX, daughters, Erika and Julia; and Annalisa Whitley of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter, Tiffany Zuniga, husband Nate, and granddaughter, Hanna-Grace Hart,

son, Darrell W. Whitley, Jr and wife Faye, granddaughter, Honesty Whitley, grandson, Darrell W. Whitley, III;

Sisters, Josefina Reynero, of Meadow, TX, Ninfa Sanchez of Clovis, CA, and Isabel Perez of San Marcos, TX; brothers, Ruben DeLeon of Garden City, KS, Herman DeLeon of Hillsboro, ND and Max DeLeon of Lubbock, TX; and brothers, sisters/brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation: 5pm to 9pm, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie with rosary at 6:45 pm. Funeral Mass: 1:00 pm, Friday, May 29, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. Entombment: Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Building Fund.
