Willie Jean Hyams, age 75, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Thursday October 14, 2021, in Arlington, Texas. She was born on January 15, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Willie and Viola Wilson.
She will always be remembered as “Mimi,” a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend and daycare provider to all that knew and loved her. The grass never grew under Mimi’s feet as she loved to participate in all that life had to offer. Mimi was an avid member of the Red Hat Society and member of the Summit Senior Center here in Grand Prairie. Mimi was a devout Catholic and longtime member of the Holy Family of Nazareth. She also loved her hometown of New Orleans and especially her New Orleans Saints – WHO DAT! You knew you were in either deep trouble or deep conversation with Mimi when she said “Oh but no, y’all going cross that river!“, “yes, indeed!”, “bae-bae!” and “that’s Mimi’s bae-by!”.
Mimi was preceded in death by her son Robert Hyams, Jr., parents Willie and Viola Wilson, brothers George Wilson, Sr., and Ronald Wilson, Sr. She is survived by her children Dana Owens, Tony Owens, Jr., Marlette McDonald (Dexter), Michael Owens, bonus daughters Ebony Scott (Derrick), Tammy Owens; eleven grandchildren, Tony III, Gabby, Taron, Tiffany, Dexter, Jr., Deaunna, Jahmad, Love, Agiana, Lexi & De’Kendrick; 3 great granddaughters Tatiana, Alana and Joah; sister-in-law Claudia Wilson and numerous bonus sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
