After graduation she traveled to Wichita Falls, TX where she worked in a drug store. Eventually she ended up in Munday, TX where she met Fred Searcey. After dating for about a year they were married in 1947. They settled down in Munday, TX where they lived on Fred’s family farm and had 3 beautiful daughters. In 1963 the family moved to Grand Prairie, TX. Upon arrival they joined Fairview Baptist Church for a few months till they moved to the south side of town and found their church family at Inglewood Baptist Church. Zona taught Sunday school, Bible School and VBS. She also sang in the choir with the “Keenagers”. Being a part of the Keenagers gave Zona a wonderful opportunity to travel. They traveled to many places like Branson. Zona was a great country cook, who enjoyed crocheting; playing cards, dominoes, yahoo and 42. She always made her weekly hair appointment. Zona liked to travel with her family and do small trips with her husband. She had a good sense of humor and quick wit all the way to the end. She was true Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. Zona even liked when people would pick on her a little, because she enjoyed the attention. Above all she loved spending time with her family. She was involved with her daughters girl scouts, always wanted to go eat with her girls after church on Sunday, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thank you to the all staff at Community Assisted Living in Grand Prairie, TX. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choosing.
