Her career took her in many directions. Anna spent time working in the South Dakota Governor’s Office for the Department of Education. She was a talented writer and spent many years working as a journalist for a variety of newspapers, including the Belding Banner News. Eventually, she settled in finance and worked as an accountant retiring from Beene Garter LLP.
Anna enjoyed being involved in her community. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Belding and served as Job’s Daughters Grand Chaplain. She was honored to receive the Woman of the Year award from the Belding Business and Professional Women’s Club.
When she wasn’t working, Anna was found with her family making as many memories as possible. She loved traveling and camping. She was known for her three course meals over a campfire. In 2008, Anna took her family of four generations on a trip to the Mayan peninsula in Mexico. The family will cherish the stories and memories from that trip forever. She had an open door policy at her home and anyone and everyone was welcome.
Anna is survived by her children: Patti (Tagg Butler) Cowden, Debbi (Steve) Antcliff and Gary (Sue) Cowden; her grandchildren: Anna (Luke) Reynolds, Tonya (Jamie) Goodrich, Salina (John) Eggers and Kami (Eric) Switzer; her great-grandchildren: Torey Antcliff, Della Goodrich, Owen, Inez, Noah & Henry Eggers and Audra & Colton Switzer, and her great-great grandchildren: Bryson & Mya Antcliff.
