surrounded by her loving family. She was a first generation American, and the
first in her family to graduate from college, having been born in 1931 to Gale &
Irene (Knister) Taylor.
After completing her formal education at Central Michigan University where she
earned her Bachelor’s degree in English, with a minor in Spanish, Betty worked
outside the home teaching high school and later working as a librarian in her
community.
Betty exemplified grace and elegance, while having a wonderful sense of humor.
She was known for her philanthropic heart and cared deeply about the well
being of others; spending many years actively involved with Meals on Wheels,
among other volunteer work. She cherished her years in Holt, where she and
Aaron raised their family until Aaron’s death in 1983. Betty continued to live in
Holt, where she nurtured countless acquaintances into lifelong friendships.
Higgins Lake held a special place in her heart, where generations of family
memories continue to be made to this day. Betty thoroughly enjoyed travel;
experiencing new cultures, forging new friendships, and never failing to find the
nearest ice cream shop in all the 41 countries she visited. She had a great
appreciation for music and art, and especially enjoyed Adventures in Good
Music, with Karl Haas. Two of her favorite quotes, both by Winston Churchill,
were; “Never stand up when you can sit down and never sit down when you can
lie down”, as well as “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to
continue that counts”.
Betty is survived by her children: Brad Hall (Juling Hall), Gail Hall and Blake Hall
(Beth Hall); grandchildren: Jeremiah Hall, Kendi Hall, Kyra Tovar, Keely Hall,
Anna Hall and Erin Hall; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Beverly Gray and
Suzanne Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her husband Aaron Hall and brother Richard Taylor.
A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held this summer for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feeding America West Michigan,
the Holt Food Bank, or the Aaron C. Hall Memorial Scholarship at Central
Michigan University.
