Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Guenther Mitchell, 93, passed away after a brief illness on December 25, 2015. A graduate of Creston High School, Betty spent most of her life in the North End. A gifted elementary school teacher she taught for 10 years in Johnson City, TN, before returning to Grand Rapids in 1978. She was an active volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank and active for many years in AAUW, the City Club, and the Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur and survived by her 4 children, 2 daughters-in-law, 3 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and her large extended family. The service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Tuesday, December 29 at 11:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 2275 Diamond NE with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Resurrection Life Cemetery with immediate family only.
