Bruce was born on July 15, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to loving parents Adriana and Harry Kellogg. He was one of four children, sharing his childhood years with his sister, Jackie, and his two brothers, John, and Robert. He had fond memories of waking up at 4:00 am to help his dad deliver milk with a horse and wagon.
Although Bruce went to Central High School, he graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in the Class of 1956. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol, who he met in a drug store where she was working as a soda jerk. They raised a daughter, Kristy, and a son, Todd, in East Grand Rapids.
Bruce was passionate about real estate and appraisals, and even started his own company called Kellogg Realty Co. He had a very entrepreneurial spirit and dabbled in other business ventures throughout his life (investment properties, diamonds, video games, etc.).
A gregarious and kind friend to everyone, Bruce talked to anyone who would listen and always had unlimited stories to share. His booming voice, happy persona, and sense of humor were certain to leave you in a better mood. Bruce laughed a lot, contagiously. He lived life to the fullest and loved adventure, especially on the back of dirt bikes. Bruce proudly served in the United States Navy as Seabee, where he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He enjoyed traveling the country on his Honda Goldwing motorcycle with Carol. Together, they visited 21 states.
Grand Haven was one of Bruce’s favorite places and he deeply loved Lake Michigan. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of being fireside while camping, cruising in his boat (named Special K) and exploring other coastal towns. He adored his granddaughters and great grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them whenever he could.
Upon retirement, Bruce and Carol split their time between Grand Rapids, MI and Naples, FL, preferring to follow the sunshine and warmth. While in Florida, you could find Bruce zipping around in his golf cart with his two dogs and visiting with friends.
As his greatest legacy, Bruce leaves behind two children, two granddaughters, two great grandchildren, and soon to be a third great grandchild. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol (Van't Hof) Kellogg, his daughter Kristy (Patrick) Roeser, his son Todd (Cary Heaton), his granddaughters, Emily (Michael) Voss and Katie (Daniel) Stephens, great grandchildren, Aiden Voss and Grayson Voss, his siblings, John (Penny) Kellogg, Jackie (Fred) Peters, and Robert (Diane) Kellogg, and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce’s family invites you to a Celebration of Life gathering on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00p.m. The celebration and service will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505.
