She leaves loving memories in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories and hilarious sense of humor. She truly brought the life (and the meatballs) to the party. We will remember her for her loving nature, kindness, and her occasional, endearing stubbornness; which she has passed down to both of her children.
Colleen had endless admiration for her children whom she cherished beyond measure. She was arguably the best big sister in the world, maintaining the ranks of the Denner Five. She was a force of nature, determined to provide for her family and give them the life they deserved. She worked in the service industry most of her life. While working at Forest Hills Country Club she put herself through Davenport University graduating on the Dean’s List with an associate’s degree in accounting. More valuable than her degree, she established friendships that sustained her lifetime. In 2003 Colleen left the service industry to join her daughter at Aetna where she worked until her retirement in 2016.
Once retired she fulfilled her dream of moving to Florida and sitting by the ocean. She found a wonderful community in Club Chalet and easily established new friendships that she treasured. She finished well. She lived a life of transformed grace. Every person that knew her was witness; that she created the life she always dreamed of.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Andrea Jaffas and Ryan Schroeder; grandchildren Kayla Jaffas, Arieanna and Anthony Schroeder; sisters Donna Brown, Dawn (Tim) Bekkering, Maureen (Judy Hartog) Denner ; brother Greg (Cindy) Denner. She will also be dearly missed by Mia who was always at her side, her Lakos family, and her neighbors at Club Chalet.
Colleen is now at peace joining her parents Jack and Pat Denner who preceded her in death and she has undoubtedly has reunited with her beloved Sasha.
A memorial service will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 4:00 PM, following visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.reyersnorthvalleychapel.com for the Schroeder family.
