Corlene Southard

Corlene Ione Southard, 86, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Bruno and Mionia (Hopkins) DeBoer. Growing up she loved visiting Ramona Park and going swimming on the weekend. She also loved Sundays for going to the movies.

Corlene worked for 30 years as a sewer for General Motors. She was honored to receive their 25 year award. She always always wanted to better herself, she was a hard worker and even took the time to finish her High School Diploma at the age of 47. That certificate was proof of one of Corlene's proudest accomplishments.

She enjoyed spending her free time with family, doing puzzles, crocheting and embroidery, playing cards, and going on trips. She loved watching birds-especially cardinals and hummingbirds that buzzed around her flower garden. Corlene will be remembered for generously giving her time and care, her friendships and laughter she shared, and her kind and loving spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Corlene was preceded in death by: husband, Wayne Irving Southard; sons, Ronald Troutman, William Southard, and Wayne Alan Southard; great grandson, Jaden Buscher; sister, Alvira Postma; and her parents.

Corlene is survived by: children, Randy Southard, Barbara Root, Mionia Jane (Pat) Ensley, Tammy (John) Homrich, and Timothy (Lisa) Southard; grandchildren, Marissa (David) Gilliam Sr., Marcus (Samantha) Southard, Ronnie/Ron (Heidie) Southard, Angela (Tim) Buscher, Adam (Tosha), Scott (Carrie) Mongar, Chad & Melissa Ensley, Luke (Alyssa) Homrich, Jacob (Hallie) Homrich, Jade Southard, Michael Southard, Caleb Southard, Gabbi Southard, and Noah Southard; great grandchildren, Damein & Zachery Mongar, Josephine, Thea & baby Homrich, Sawyer & Stella Southard, David Gillam Jr., Trinity, Gianna, MaLiyah & Chloe Gilliam, Milaya and Leilana LaCombe, and Amari Southard; brothers, James & Louis DeBoer; dear friend and adopted daughter, Delana Hadden; as well as many other relatives.

Visitation for Corlene will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 023 at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.
