He was known by his children as the handy man- a guy who could fix just about anything. He worked on trucks, cars and even computers, rebuilding and fixing them. Dean had an extensive career in IT with Lowell Public Schools, architecture, factory and production work and was considered a “jack-of-all-trades.” He had a desire many years ago to open an internet café, before Wi-Fi was readily available.
In addition to his gift of truly being able to fix anything, he was first and foremost, a phenomenal husband and father. When Dean’s wife was ill, he was her primary caretaker for the last years of her life. He was simply kind, compassionate, helpful to all, and would do just about anything for other people. He enjoyed working out, especially in his earlier years of life. He would get up at 4 am and start his day with a workout, which helped keep his sweet tooth at bay!
Dean considered his children his miracles. He spent his whole life dropping anything to be there for his children. When his daughter was sad, he knew exactly how to cheer her up. Dean bonded with his son over hunting and fixing up cars together. One of Felicia’s favorite memories of her dad was that he always stopped for turtles. If a turtle was crossing the road, he always stopped and moved them or let them pass by. He was an overall kindhearted man to the core.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Yvonne Marie Burger and their child, Nicholas Burger.
Dean is survived by his children; Christopher (Katherine) Burger and Felicia Burger, his siblings; Jeannie Burger, Leslie Cobb, Paula Vining, Mike (Sandy) Burger and Dennis Burger and his companion for the last several years, Sandra Kent. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by many.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Saturday, May 29th from 11 am until the Memorial Service at 2 pm. Military Honors will conclude the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
