When I met Don was at a Christmas party for Thornapple Valley. He worked with my ex husband. He told Don we were getting married. Don had asked him if he was taking me on a honeymoon. Tom said I can't afford that so probably not he had to work. So Don spoke up and said well hell you can take my truck and I will take her. We all laughed. He has and forever be known as my honeymoon man. In case your wondering I never did get to go on a honeymoon. Lol. Don you have always been like family to me and my kids. They always called you Grandpa Don. You will always be loved and missed. I am just sorry I didn't get to come see you more often. Fly high in the sky old man. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Hugs

Our neighbor for at least 20 yrs , Great guy either he was at our house seeing or controlling the dogs or they snuck across the street to see him and see if he had ring Bologna for them . Also he spent many of hours in our driveway working on one of our heaps to keep it running or in his driveway closer to his tools. Great cook ALSO taught me how to cook corned beef in the crockpot Yummy 👍🏻. Kept an eye on our sons cause they never new where Don was gonna be and bust them out LOL! You will be Dearly Missed our Friend !

Uncle don,
Walking into your home is not going to be the same. I wont hear hi grouch or coffee is on. I always looked forward to coming to your house. If I need to go somewhere that I didnt know where it was I could always count on you to take me. I remember one time when mom came down to get groceries. All you had was a volkswagon. I'm pretty sure there was 3 of us kids plus you and mom. She had 2 grocery carts full. You had her get us in the car and you put one cart of groceries in the trunk. Mom asked what about the other and you said dont worry I got this. You had her get in the car and he got in and rolled his window down . He grabbed the cart and down the road we went with that cart of groceries. I will miss you so much.

Don was a wonderful man. He was my second father. Him and his wife took care of me when I was young and both of my parents had to be at work. When I was young I didn't know what his name was so I had asked him. I said, "what is your name?" He then answered with a smile "for you, my name will be "MUDD"
From then on I knew Don as "MUDD." After he told me his name was "MUDD" he then told me that my name for him was "BRAT". As time went on and I grew up, we had many visits with one another. He was always there for me no matter what. He was always at the door ready to welcome me in the house with open arms waiting for a hug. Now that he is gone i cannot imagine going through that door and not seeing him or receiving a hug from him any longer.
Such a great man and I will miss him terribly.
RIP "MUDD"

Don was a great neighbor and always there when anyone was in need. When his Sophia was small he took her around the neighborhood in a motorized cart and it was obvious he was wrapped around her finger. He always stopped his car when passing and say something,
often funny. He often asked how our youngest Tammy was saying " How is my girl?" Betty, Candy , Sophia, Chance and Karl our heart goes to all of you. Don and Linda Idsinga and the girls
