

Frederick Edwin Spring, age 83 of Spring Lake, passed away on November 20, 2021 at Vista Spring Riverside. Fred was born in Grand Rapids on February 27, 1938 the son of Edwin B. Spring & Cornelia Caroline (Oom) Bresnahan Lisikiewicz.
Attending Creston High School, Fred was active with the football team helping on the sidelines during games. Even after graduating in 1957, Fred’s love of sports continued through his life. He was enjoyed watching college sports and was a diehard Michigan State fan.
Raised to have a strong work ethic, Fred began working at the Shell station in North Park while in high school. He would move on to Wilburn Company for several years before settling into his career with Johnson & Johnson. He retired in 1998 from Ortho Diagnostic in Arlington Texas as a Lyophilizer Technician; a division of Johnson & Johnson.
Fred appreciated old cars, and was very proud of his 1977 Malibu Classic, a car he drove out of the showroom brand new.
Fred is survived by his children Laurie Spring and Frederick J. Spring, his granddaughter Tiffany Spring and his great-grandchildren Cora & Colin Hutchins; his sister Marcie Spring, and his cousin Nancy (Oom) & “Duke” VanSweden as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathy Pierce, his brother Ernie Spring and his stepbrother Ronald Bresnahan.
Visitation will be held on Friday December 3, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel with a funeral service to immediate follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Blythefield Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in Fred’s memory may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
