

Helen W. Palmatier, resident of Porter Hills, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 2, 2014 at the age of 94. Helen was the youngest of ten children born to Christian and Bessie Westrate on Valentine's Day of 1920. She was preceded in death by husband Carl Petz in 1969 and husband Jackman Palmatier in 1981. Helen cherished the time spent with her relatives in Arizona and Washington State. She will be lovingly remembered by her great nephew and god son Joseph Koepnick, great nieces Paula (Thomas) Hardin, Marcy (Joe) Young, Laura (Bill) Horvath and families. Nieces Barbara Westrate, Bev (Doug) Siekman, nephew John Westrate also mourn her passing along with many other dear nieces, nephews, and close friends from the Westrate, Petz, Palmatier, and Shoen families. Helen lived her life with dignity and touched the lives of many through her sincere generosity. Profound gratitude is extended to Dr. Harris, Debra Jo Wahl and staff for the loving, compassionate care of Helen. Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier NE with Rev. Patrick Grile, C.Ss.R officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Rosary at 10:45. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Porter Hills Benevolent Fund or Emmanuel Hospice.
