

Jack E. Flanders, aged 89, passed away peacefully at home in the morning hours of April 7, 2012. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen and 3 brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Sandra Flanders and Nancy (Keith) Paasch, grandchildren, Shannon Bronson, Sean Flanders, Mitchel Paasch, great-grandchild Lorna Bronson, brother Raymond Flanders, caregiver Shelly Layle and other extended family. Jack was a proud WWII veteran who served aboard the USS Virgo, he was a past Commander of American Legion Post 258, part of the American Legion Honor Guard for many years, and for 30 years he volunteered at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He will also be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting and trips to Vegas and the Grand Ole Opry. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Reyers North Valley Chapel with Pastor Chuck VanLente officiating. Military honors by The Kent County Veterans Honor Guard will immediately follow. Interment at Fairplains Cemetery.
