

Jean Helen Scribner, best known as Gramma Jean, passed away on September 21, 2025. Jean was born in Comstock Park on July 16, 1946, to Anton & Helen (Anderson) Petersen. She was a member of the 1964 graduating class of Comstock Park High School.
Nurturing and caring for others came naturally for Jean. This led her to her career working for Edison Christian Health Center. She retired after 25 years of service. She treasured the many lifelong friends she made working there.
She was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 47.
Ladies Auxiliary. Jean also loved cooking for her family and friends, and over the years she baked countless batches of cookies for all.
Her genuinely kind soul was a bright light to many. She would share a loving thought on Facebook, send a message in a card or make a call that could change someone’s day.
She was known as Gramma Jean to not just her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but to all their friends. Her family was her greatest passion, and she delighted in being Great-Gramma Jean. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and remembered for all her love and memories she shared.
Jean is survived by her daughter Annette (Eric) Hendrickson; her granddaughter McKenna (Evan) Sholtis; her grandsons: Jake (Brooke) and Jon Hendrickson; her great-grandchildren: Becket & Myles Sholtis and Blake, Charlie & Chase Hendrickson; her sister Jane (Don) Huizenga; sister-in-law Joanie Mull. Many close relatives who frequently met for lunches and endless friends that she held close to her heart.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Earl Louis Scriber in 1999 and numerous brothers and sister in laws.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at American Legion Post 47, 3811 W River Dr NE, Comstock Park, MI 49321.
