Kathie Rae White, age 69, passed away on February 22, 2025, surrounded by her family at Trillium Woods. Kathie was born in Grand Rapids on April 8, 1955, to Gordon & Joyce (Gill) Hall. She grew up in the area schools and graduated from Northview High School.
When she was just 16 years old, she met the love of her life, Don White. The young couple tied the knot on November 30, 1973. They grew their family to include two daughters. While Don provided for the family, Kathie kept busy being a homemaker. She opened her home to provide day care to others, and her house was always full of kids and “controlled chaos”. She also made sure no one was ever hungry. She enjoyed cooking for her family and will be remembered for her fried chicken, Salisbury steak, homemade mac ‘n cheese, and her corned beef casserole.
When she did take time for herself, Kathie enjoyed using her creative skills with needlework or completing a word puzzle. However, her favorite thing to do was going camping. When the kids were little, they started out in a tent, and by the time her health had slowed her down, she was “glamping” in luxury in their 5th-Wheel. Kathie and Don traveled all over the US enjoying all the sights and scenery.
Kathie was known for her stubborn streak and her spicy personality. She always made sure she looked on point, sometimes spending half the day getting ready to leave the house. She will be remembered for being the epitome of a sports mom, keeping a spotless home and her love for the many cats and dogs she had over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Don, her children: Stephanie (Kenneth) Brewer and Katie White; her granddaughters: Madison and Alivia Oley; her sister Robin (Kirk) White; her brother-in-law Steven (Carol) White and sister-in-law Carolyn White as well as many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Kathie will be held on Thursday February 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Graceland Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.
Memorial donations in memory of Kathie may be made to Harbor Humane Society.
