

Leonard William VanderBerg, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2016 at his home in the company of his family. He was born in the summer of 1930 to the late Peter and Anna VanderBerg in Walker Township, MI. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters Eleanor Joy VanderBerg and Elaine McDowell and Brother-in-Law Norman VandeBerg. Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 59 years Marlene (Buckowing) and their children Terry (Julie) VanderBerg, Jody (Joe) VanHaitsma and Brian (Allison) VanderBerg; Siblings Darlene (Art) Bykerk, Doris (Joe) Takens, David (Doris) Vanderberg, Raymond (Cheryl) VanderBerg, Coral VandeBerg and Ruth Zerpha as well as 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He proudly served his country as a Sargent the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge Leonard worked as a dedicated employee for Lear Siegler Inc. until his retirement in 1993. Leonard enjoyed his lake front home where he was able to indulge in his passion for fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. Please join the family for visitation on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Reyers North Valley Chapel. An additional hour of visitation has been scheduled prior to the 3 PM funeral service on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Grace Community Church (4435 Cannonsburg Rd NE, Belmont, MI 49306) with Pastor Timothy Hall officiating. Leonard will be laid to rest with military honors in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
