
Marian Ruth Pettit, 75 of Grand Rapids, died Sunday morning, February 20th, 2011 at Spectrum Health- Butterworth Campus. She was born December 7th, 1935 in Sparta, MI and was the daughter of the late Martin & Ruth (Syswerda) Kitler. Marian was a pianist who enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She would play the piano and organ for several churches in the Grand Rapids area. She was an organist for Reyers North Valley Chapel. Marian was very active in Bible Study Group at Ambrose Ridge Apartments. She had worked at the former Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She attended church at Northland Baptist and First Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed reading and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Marian is survived by six children; Mark ( Teri) Pettit, Mary (Jerry) Bush, Michele Pettit, Marcia (Bob) Cisler, Marie (Keith) Longhurst, and Michael (Becky) Pettit; nine grandchildren, Katie Pettit, Nick Pettit, Whitney Hemmes, Naelonda Pierre, Buddy Pierre, Courtney Schultz, Hunter Cisler, Sierra Pettit, and Savannah Pettit; two great-grandchildren; two brothers James (Diane) and David (Eileen) Kitler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Max in December 2000. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel, with Rev. Vance Dimmick officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
