Mark Freelove

Mark was born on October 12, 1953 to Stewart and Alice (Jones) Freelove in Chicago, IL. Mark and his family moved around quite a bit over the years spending time in Chicago, Kentucky, Muskegon, Montague, and Rockford before he finally settled in Grand Rapids. Mark graduated from Montague high school in 1972.

Mark loved all things music. He was known as a “music savant” by his friends and family. He knew just about anything to do with music, songs, lyrics, and recording labels. If it involved music, Mark knew all about it. His family will remember him for his candid sense of humor, his kind spirit, and activism. He loved watching NASCAR, Formula One, and WWE. He was also involved in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

Mark is survived by his sister Laura (Robert) Barr; his niece and nephew Brianna and Daniel Barr; special friend Valarie Ambrose; and his dear friend Katherine (Brenden) Luc, who he loved like a daughter, and her daughter Kelly.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at 6:00PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1025 3 Mile Rd. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. The family will receive guests prior to the service starting at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s name can be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1025 3 Mile Rd. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506 or to Grace Episcopal Church, 1815 Hall St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
